So, the question that eventually arises: is there any opportunity to make money online in a short period of time? Well here are a few honest methods of earning a quick buck over the Internet.

1) Blogging- The most common form of writing over the Internet that can be viewed and shared by people across the world irrespective of their geographical locations. However, there are some sites such as Seopher.com where you can blog and get paid for it. This site in collaboration with Google Adsense is a pretty good way of earning some extra cash. If you do not like too many invasive advertisements, you can manipulate Adsense accordingly. Tweaking social networking sites such as StumbleUpon, Digg and Reddit can bring in large amount of traffic and consequently generate a decent income.

2) Viral fads- Small ideas that catch the fancy of people are a good way of making money online. If the web master has the capacity of developing something cool and make sure it lasts for over a period of time, it is a great way of earning bucks- big or small. Viral videos are particularly good for this, if you have captured something humorous on your camcorder it could easily go viral on YouTube, just remember to monetise your YouTube channel in some way.

3) Expertise- One thing people will pay for is expert opinions and experience. If you have several blog posts that are relevant to your line of work, there are very good chances sooner or later you will be asked to write on subjects that you are familiar with. If all goes well you will have a decent fan following over the Internet as well as have a steady income dribbling into your account.

4) Write a Book- For most people, writing a book may not come under the quick methods of making money; nonetheless it is an option for people who have time on their hands and are creative enough to pen their thoughts down on paper.

5) Invention- This option is for people who are innovative and brave enough to make a go of it over the Internet. These days people seldom have time to invent a product and go door-to-door and convince people to buy it. The Internet has made everything so transparent that it is difficult to fool potential customers. Also, it is way easier to put up the product and count on people’s curiosity as a basis of a sale.

As we approach the end of 2009 I have to admit that I haven’t exactly followed the path I had in mind for my first full year in internet marketing. Ideas that I thought we a dead cert to work have fallen flat on their face, and other things I’ve tried have been surprisingly successful.

One such success story was a tactic I discovered to cash in on the Christmas period as an amazon affiliate. After discovering the idea I spent a couple of days in November setting it up (I really wish I had spent more time now!) and netted around $500 in sales commisioned. Not a huge amount I know, but I only really had time to test the water to see whether it would work, and the idea is totally scalable. Next year I will be looking for some people to join me in creating a network of affiliate sites for amazon so we can all benefit from this tactic.

I have also been working on a membership site for people who want to become affiliate marketers. It probably won’t be for those who are looking to become big name internet marketing millionaire guru’s (you’ll have to buy some other course for that) but for the average Joe who wants to make a decent income just from being a behind the scenes affiliate. Not everybody likes the limelight, I realise, so this site will be about giving you all the tools and training to succeed in affiliate marketing. I will also be looking to use the power of the collective members to help in the promotion of products.

So I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a very prosperous New Year, and look out for more from me very soon.
